BATUKI MUSIC SOCIETY PRESENTS

BAABA MAAL

AT KOERNER HALL

Batuki Music Society and the Royal Conservatory of Music present the Senegalese "Nightingale" Baaba Maal at Koerner Hall in the Telus Centre located at 273 Bloor Street West in Toronto on Tuesday April 6, 2010 at 8 pm. A living legend in his native Senegal, Maal is known as "the Nightingale" for the stunning power and purity of his voice, and over the years, he has honed a unique sound fusing traditional African music with elements of reggae, pop, R&B, soul, jazz, and blues.

Whether evoking southern Senegal on the kora, or his native region of Fouta with a rhythmic Yela chant, Maal conveys the rich musical tradition of his country in his explosive high-energy live performances.
